Sensors play a crucial role in automotive engine management systems. The engine management system collects key data about the operating status of the engine through sensors, such as temperature, pressure, speed, and oxygen concentration. These data help ECU to precisely control fuel injection, ignition timing, and emission control systems, thereby optimizing engine performance and efficiency.
.Temperature sensor:The temperature sensor is mainly used to measure the temperature of the engine coolant, intake temperature, and exhaust temperature. The engine coolant temperature sensor is installed in the engine coolant passage to measure the temperature of the engine coolant and provide the ECU with thermal status information of the engine. The intake temperature sensor is installed in the intake manifold to measure the intake temperature and provide intake status information to the ECU.The exhaust temperature sensor is installed in the exhaust pipe to measure the exhaust temperature and provide exhaust status information to the ECU.
.Pressure sensor:Pressure sensors are mainly used to measure oil pressure, fuel pressure, and intake manifold pressure. The oil pressure sensor is installed in the oil passage to measure the oil pressure and provide lubrication system status information to the ECU.The fuel pressure sensor is installed in the fuel passage to measure fuel pressure and provide fuel system status information to the ECU.The intake manifold pressure sensor is installed in the intake manifold to measure the intake manifold pressure and provide intake status information to the ECU.
.Speed sensor:Speed sensors are mainly used to measure engine speed. The engine speed sensor is installed on the crankshaft or camshaft of the engine to measure the engine speed and provide information on the engine operating status to the ECU.
.Position sensor:The position sensor is mainly used to measure the position of the throttle valve and accelerator pedal. The throttle position sensor is installed on the throttle body to measure the throttle opening and provide intake information to the ECU.The accelerator pedal position sensor is installed on the accelerator pedal to measure the position of the accelerator pedal and provide the ECU with the driver's acceleration intention information.
.Oxygen sensor:Oxygen sensors are mainly used to measure the concentration of oxygen in exhaust gas.The oxygen sensor is installed in the exhaust pipe to measure the oxygen concentration in the exhaust and provide air-fuel ratio feedback information to the ECU.Through the feedback information from the oxygen sensor, the ECU can accurately control the fuel injection amount, allowing the engine to operate at the optimal air-fuel ratio, thereby improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.
.Knock sensor:Knock sensors are mainly used to detect engine knock. The knock sensor is installed on the engine cylinder block to detect the vibration signal of the engine and provide knock information to the ECU.Through the feedback information from the detonation sensor, the ECU can adjust the ignition timing to avoid engine detonation, thereby improving the efficiency and reliability of the engine.
